☕️Early coffee scroll, and CES decided to do fight night.
Unitree turned its booth into a proper spectacle: two G1 humanoid robots boxing at the BattleBots Arena, with headgear, gloves, and a human ref. They traded kicks and punches in a pretty MMA-like rhythm, then did the occasional wobbly stumble that reminds you this is still robotics.
The detail that stuck with me is the price point that’s been quoted for G1, around $13.5k. Even if that number shifts by configuration, it frames what this kind of “dynamic motion in public” demo is aiming for: mass attention, sure, but also stress testing balance, control, and recovery when the robot gets shoved off-plan.
Also: if your model-predictive control can survive a right hook, it can probably survive my lab’s uneven floor.
